Open Recruitment
Open recruitment happens once per year, during the off-season. New recruits are trained through Bettie Boot Camp but training begins with Bettie Fit.
Bettie Fit will give you the strength and injury prevention tools to be successful in Bettie Boot Camp. Bettie Fit is a non-mandatory fitness boot camp to prepare your muscles for roller derby and introduce you to injury prevention exercises. Bettie Fit will take place on Monday and Wednesday Evenings during September & October.
Bettie Boot Camp is a learn to skate/play derby trial period. Here, interested skaters learn necessary skate skills to begin roller derby. Bettie Boot Camp takes place in November-December on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Graduating Bettie Boot Camp requires the skaters pass assessments based on the WFTDA (women’s flat track derby association) minimum skills. There is a minimum fitness level requirement for all joining Bettie Boot Camp.
Any person interested in joining MCBB outside of open recruitment and without previous derby experience, may volunteer with the Derby Justice League to become eligible for mid-season tryouts.
